The collection is in the care of the Multatuli House, where all the written and printed information on Multatuli have been deposited since 1910. Moreover, the museum preserves and exhibits many of Multatuli’s personal belongings. The 8,000 manuscripts and the collections of photographs and prints owned by the museum are in the care of the Library of the University of Amsterdam.

The Multatuli House is located at the address Korsjespoortsteeg 20, Amsterdam, where Multatuli was born in 1820. The museum falls under the auspices of the Multatuli Society (Multatuli Genootschap), an association of some three hundred Multatuli admirers.
